The Climate Reality Project and Leadership Program
I am often asked how a person can get involved and do service work related to the climate crisis. One initiative I suggest is the "Climmate Reality Leadership Corps." The Leadarship Corps Program has trained thousands of people around thew world to be "Climate Reality Leaders" - educators and communicators about the climate crisis and advocates for constructive climate action. The Training is free. Some trainings are on site (I did the training a few years ago in Australia) but trainings have been held virtually. The virtual event does not require travel, and there is no registration fee. A number of OSU students have participated in the training (both on-site and virtual) and have become Climate Reality Leaders. To participate you need to apply. Check the website for information about the program and the trainings. There is a local chapter - based in Portland.

There is also this website that allows people to choose climate change courses that best align with your educational goals. Many universities and organizations provide their own courses that are available to anyone to get training in climate change. Here is the link: https://www.coursera.org/courses?query=climate%20change

The EPA has also released a calculator to help people understand their carbon footprint. I'd recommend anyone who's involved or active in climate activism to take a look at this and try it out:
